Brian from Tyrrelstown Karate kindly returned again to us this year to offer some taster sessions to Ms Quinn and Ms Lennon's classes. As well as warm-up and stretching activities they were introduced to a variety of Karate kicks, strikes and blocks. Karate is excellent for increasing aerobic stamina, improving muscular strength and flexibility as well as enhancing balance, agility and co-ordination. Karate also improves our mental health. As it challenges the brain, it improves focus and concentration. The children reaped all of these benefits as well as having great fun with Brian who is a very dedicated and talented instructor.
If any children are interested in developing their Karate skills further TKC is always open to welcoming new students.
Ms Cullinan's class led the younger classes in taking part in a boot camp during their yard time during Active Week. The children challenged themselves to try out all the exercises such as planks, wall sits, windmills, shuttle runs and more.
Mark, our friendly ice cream man, came on Thursday the 22nd of June to mark the end of Active Week 2023 to the delight of all the children in the school. Thank you to the St. Luke’s who bought an ice-cream for everyone in the school. It made our day!
