Confirmation 2013
(47) Monday, April 15, 2013

Scoil Naomh Lucáis

10th April 2013.

Dear Parents,

Confirmation is the highlight of the Catholic school year.

Your child, whom you brought into the Catholic Faith through Baptism, now will join the Catholic Faith in their own right as full Christians.

As you have borne witness to the Faith on your child’s behalf they now will bear witness themselves. On your child’s behalf you have prepared them for this sacrament.

The children have put  a lot of effort into their preparation and your support during the preparation is vital to indicate  to them the value you place on the sacrament.

We look forward to three upcoming events as follows:

Date

Event

Thursday 11th April @ 11.00a.m.

Sacrament of Reconciliation in the Church

Sunday 21st April @ 10.30a.m.

Is Mise Le Meas,

Multi-Cultural Day Thursday, 21st March

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Every year we celebrate the fact that the children and families in our school come from many different nationalities all around the world and on Thursday we invite the children to come to school dressed in the native clothes/colours of their culture for Multi-Cultural Day. Children can bring the following:

  • A packed lunch – No school bags needed.
  • Wear clothes/colours of their native country.
  • Bring food from their country to share with their class – children may bring in a sweet or savoury dish/snack native to their country i.e. an example of their native cuisine. Please ensure that a label naming the food and its country of origin is included.

The children will participate in activities organised by the school including music workshops. We ask kindly for a donation of €5 per family to help us with the cost of the day.

We invite parents to come to the hall at 1.30 to see their children perform a song or a poem from another country.

Junior and Senior Infants will be dismissed from their classrooms at the later time of approximately 2pm.

Looking forward to seeing you there

Blanchardstown and District Credit Union - Primary Schools Quiz 2013

Congratulations to the students from 5th and 6th class in St. Lukes who represented the school so well at the Blanchardstown and District Credit Union - Primary Schools Quiz 2013:

The team worked really hard in the lead up to the quiz and should be proud of their efforts on the night. They were excellent. It was the schools first time to enter the quiz and we have been invited to enter again in 2014.

This is the feedback from the Credit Union quiz co-ordinator, Gemma:

Hi Vivienne,

I’m delighted you attended and of course we will look forward to your attendance next year. I’m glad the children enjoyed it, it is a good night and we look forward to it each year too. See you all again next year.

Kind Regards

Gemma

Basketball in Saint Luke's
(30) Friday, March 1, 2013

The boys and girls in 4th class have been playing basketball after school on Mondays until 3.45. It's still early days, but the children are really enthusiastic and eager to learn a new skill! We're hoping to organise some basketball matches against other schools in the area in May/June. We're very lucky that we have the hall this year because we can still play basketball when it's raining. The children are already learning lots about basketball (and keeping fit too!).

*We're famous!* You might have noticed the boys and girls from Saint Lukes on RTE's "Operation Transformation"! We were filmed in February and some shots of the boys and girls were shown on RTE!

Dear Parents,

Many thanks to everyone who contributed  to the non-uniform day on the Friday the 25th January. We raised €689 and had great fun with the class raffles!  A big thank you to the parents who gave up their time to help organise and help out on the day. It would not have been possible to have done it without your support.

To date, we have raised €1,625 through the sale of the calendars. We are liaising with the school as to the best use for this money and we will inform you as soon as a decision has been made.

Thank you for your continued support.

New Trees in Saint Luke's !
(20) Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Unfortunately, we had to remove 2 beautiful ash trees , last week, from the school grounds as they might have presented a danger to the children in high winds. The school site is in a very exposed location. We have purchased 8 fruit trees to make up for this sad event. We will plant these trees this week, all going well, with one tree per class grouping planned.
